Welcome to the Bavarian Forest Nature Park
In 1970, the Bavarian Forest was named Germany's first national park - to this day, rare animal species such as wildcats, lynx and otters thrive here. The philosophy of the Berghotel Maibrunn is to nurture and care for this nature and to enjoy it to the full. Fancy a hike? In Maibrunn, St. Englmar and the surrounding area you will find wonderful routes in a unique landscape: lush, green meadows, gentle hills, sun-drenched clearings, lively streams and mysterious forests, stately mountains and a picture-book white-blue sky ... a true paradise for hikers!
In the realm of the 4 thousanders
Do you already know these four tall gentlemen? Hirschenstein (1095 m), Pröller (1048 m), Predigtstuhl (1024 m) and Knogl (1056 m) - these are the names of our four thousand-meter peaks, which offer fantastic views over the boundless forest wilderness of the Bavarian Forest, the Bohemian Forest and the Danube plain. These mountains not only offer beautiful hiking trails and sporting activities, but also the opportunity to discover the unique flora and fauna of this region. Each mountain has its own charm and is a must for every nature lover.
The Bavarian Forest from above
Walk up to 30 meters above the treetops, supported by a 2.50 m wide larch wood path - barrier-free, of course. What spectacular views!
A walk here is like flying through the treetops - an incomparable opportunity to experience the far-reaching views over the Bavarian Forest in all its glory.
